Why is proper humidity important?
For false eyelash adhesives, the ideal humidity for curing speed, adhesion and durability is usually between 40-60% relative humidity. However, the exact value may depend on the composition of the adhesive. Here are some considerations:
- 40-50% humidity:At lower humidity, the adhesive cures more slowly because there is less moisture in the air for the cyanoacrylate to react. This requires more precision on the part of the stylist.
- 50-60% humidity:This range is optimal for most fast setting adhesives. Moisture is just sufficient for the right cure speed and minimises problems from curing too fast or too slow.
- Humidity above 60%:High humidity can result in too rapid a cure, which can reduce the durability of the adhesion and increase the chance of "blooming" or "shock curing" of the adhesive.
If the humidity is not ideal for the work area, a humidifier or dehumidifier can be used to control the environment to ensure the adhesive performs at its best.
